FIFA Ballon d’Or 2012

After the nominees were drawn, many were left wondering who this prestigious award would go to.

Having performed brilliantly well in all the competitions, and even leading his side to the semi finals of the Euro, many including the CR7 fans would hope that their man can get this. Also taking Los Blancos to the title in the La Liga, he has one-upped on counterpart Lionel Messi.

The other strong nominee is Andres Iniesta, having won the Euro 2012 with dazzling performances for La Roja. Iniesta was consistently playing well with Barcelona, even after the struggle they went through after Pep Guardiola resigned. Making it even harder to play for the opposition as David Villa came back; Iniesta has combined with his teammates no matter what the circumstances were.

Lionel Messi is a totally different class, people have really high hopes that this individual will do wonders and is doing wonders at the time. He has already broken Pele’s long standing record of 75 goals in a calendar year and is on his way to break Gerd Muller’s record of 85 goals, only 3 goals away, Messi now has a full month to get past that mark. Messi showed tremendous work in the Champions League last season, although failed to break Chelsea’s defence. He scored 5 goals in a single game, during a thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen.

There’s sound in the air every time people talk about this event, now question is who will take home this glamorous prize?
