Paul Pogba is a scintillating case of a young player with endless amounts of potential, often finding himself on the news for reasons other than his serious ability to play the sport. He is considered by many to be one of the world’s most exciting young talents, and boasts a serious CV captaining the France U-19 side as well as playing for giants Manchester United and Juventus. He is two-way midfield player, and can play both defensively as a holding midfielder and in the attack as an attacking midfielder.
As a product of Le Havre’s famed youth academy, which has produced notable players such as Lassana Diarra, Pascal Chimbonda and Florent Sinama-Pongolle, it seemed valid to entertain the idea that Pogba would go on to make quite a name for himself as a player for the future. However, he was pryed away by giants Manchester United under acrimonious circumstances and found himself set for a true breakout on the world scene.
Pogba wanted assurity of playing time as he wanted to test his talents against top teams on a regular basis. Sir Alex Ferguson did assure Pogba that he would be given a chance to play for United’s almost depleted midfield; however Pogba didn’t see the pitch as much as he would’ve liked and was left to play for the reserve team consistently. He controversially completed a move over the summer to Italian champions, Juventus, over a contract dispute which surfaced towards the end of his short lived United career.
However, Pogba has been given a fresh start at Juventus. It is his 3rd club before he even hits 20, and has already impressed thus far competing with the likes of Marchisio, Vidal, Pirlo to name a few in Juventus almost complete midfield. He has scored twice in his eight games so far, even scoring a game winner against minnows Bologna. What’s sure is that United’s loss could prove to be Juventus’ gain as United have not yet addressed their midfield with a solid, influential player. The reliance on Paul Scholes cannot last much further and United’s loss could just prove to be Juventus’ biggest gain.
