One for the Future; Marco Veratti

Marco Veratti, dubbed the new “Pirlo” has been a true revelation on the world stage. A deep lying playmaker similar to Pirlo, Veratti’s vision and ball movement had made him desperately wanted by many of Europe’s giants. At a tender age of only 16, he was a regular for Pescara and took the Serie B by storm, en route to earning them a promotion to the Serie A in nearly two decades with other young stars – Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile.
Veratti had been on the radar of Italian giants A.C Milan, ever since Pescara’s U-16’s played a series of games with several of Milan’s youth teams. There were times when Veratti almost single handedly took over a match and influenced the proceedings of the match. However, Veratti was homesick and didn’t want to jump ship yet and wanted to make an impact on Pescara’s first team. He was immediately given the No. 10 shirt and was orchestrating matches; it only took Zdenek Zeman to make Veratti further exploit the depths of his potential. Zeman began to deploy Veratti in a deeper lying role in a 4-3-3 formation, and Veratti had been receptive of the chane as it began to show in his play. He was creating many more chances, and his finesse seperated his ability from the rest of the field.
As Pescara gained promotion, Verratti’s stock had plummetted and he was wanted by many of Europe’s top teams. However, French giants Paris Saint Germain bought the services of the 5 ft. 5 in. midfielder, leaving many Italians dismayed as to why no Italian team was able to pry his services and keep him in the country. Italy coach, Cesare Prandelli was astonished and was apalled by the situation. Even Veratti’s boyhood team Juventus couldn’t get Veratti as a long term cog for the ever graceful Pirlo.
Since his introduction to the Ligue 1, Veratti has made an immediate impact and has collected several assists and linked up well with many of the club’s big names, such as Ibrahimovic and Pastore. He also just missed the cut to play for Italy in Euro 2012. But fans across the world can expect the player who many call the new “Pirlo” only to get better with age!
