One for the Future; Carl Jenkinson

Rising up from the ranks of Charlton Athletic, Carl Jenkinson is a professional and ethical full back. At the delicate age of 18, Jenkinson made his debut for the League One team in which he stood solid at the back assuring safety at all opposition attacks.

Due to his successful loan spells at Welling United and Eastbourne Borough, he has become more and more consistent as an athlete at a qualified level catching the eye of Arsene Wenger, leaving Charlton the following season, Carl Jenkinson joined the Gunners.

Jenkinson is a player of great potential and not a lot of us are aware of this due to him being off of the media. He plays in a right back position often found running up and down the wings to help his team strike.

Making his debut in an important tie with Liverpool, he performed well which gave him the spot for the following game against Manchester United. Although they lost at a shocking score-line of 8-2, Jenkinson did provide Robin Van Persie with an assist. Also having represented England at international level, Jenkinson is not full of confidence in his role.

This season has been a fresh start. Taking advantage of Bacary Sagna’s injury, Carl did string a few good displays in the opening half of the season. Now back in training Sagna has taken over his regular spot. Arsenal now trailing in the Premier League, Jenkinson will have to prove his worth in the time provided if he wants to be a starting 11 player in Arsene Wengers list.
